The above picture is our planned route for 2021

 January 13th, 2021

We left Chino Valley around 10 am when it was 36 degrees.  We stopped and got gas right away and then dad bounced us down the road to a campground called HIGH CHAPARRAL RV/MH PARK. in Casa Grande.  ($40 per day discounted to $36 or $415 per month plus electric)  There are many long term residents here who waved at us when we drove bye.  The sites are small but every thing worked as it should.  With 40 OTA TV channels and 70 degrees at 3 pm, makes this place a whole lot better than what we left.  The WiFi was weak at 1 to 3 MB depending the time of day.  We will only stay here 2 days.  But I can see us coming back here for an extended stay during the winter months.  Or at least the area.

January 15th, 2021

After breakfast dad started the engine and I went to hide in my carry-all.  I know that means we are moving again!  :(  Lucky for me we stopped a couple of miles later at a Flying J Truck Stop where dad got the motor home and Jeep weighed.

(the above means the motor home front axle weighs 9040 pounds, the motor home rear axle weighs 18460 pounds and the towed Jeep weighs 4500 pounds for a total weight of 32,000 pounds)

Then he took off again.  This time we drove for 121 miles and stopped at Quail Ridge RV Park in Huachuca City, AZ.  This place is 63 miles South of Tucson and 13 miles North of Sierra Vista, AZ.  This place is a huge RV park but very clean.  The water pressure is very low for mom's beautiful long hair and the WiFi is between 1-3 Mbps (weak RV park speeds).  Dad said the price is great at $280 per month plus electricity.  Mom told me we are here for 30 days!!!!  I can't wait to meet the other animals that live around here.

January 16th, 2021

Daddy got sick today.  He picked up a sinus infection someplace.  He had a high fever with night time chills for several days and then a low grade fever for a week.  After 10 days he was all better!

While daddy was sick, mom was sitting on a dining room chair for 12 to 14 hours a day working, (the month of January is the busiest month for a bookkeeper) she messed up her back and sciatic nerve.  After several days of pain she went to a chiropractor and finally started getting some relief!!  Several visits later and a new office chair, she is back to normal.

I'm tired of taking care of them.  Don't they know they are here to take care of me?  Humans are so much trouble!!!

February 3rd, 2021

Today I was left all alone while mom and dad went out sightseeing.  They drove to a town called Patagonia.  It's a small town but it does support several mining operations in the area.  Not sure if the mines are for silver or gold.

February 7th, 2021

Today, I was able to get some good daytime sleep.  Mom and dad left!  They drove up to Cochise Strong Hold.  The government made a federal campground at the area Cochise was buried.  The last couple of miles, the road was pretty rough.

Then they tried to find the Dragoon Stage Coach Stop.  They drove over some dirt roads and got within a mile of it.  They were stopped by a locked BLM gate with a No Trespassing sign.  RATS!!!!

So, they left the very small town of Dragoon and went to Benson and had lunch at Denny's.

After a very nice lunch they were driving down highway 80 when they stopped and bought some Pistachio nuts from a road vendor in St. David, AZ.  They bought two 1 pound bags.  Salted and Honey & Mesquite flavors.  They are good and will not last long!

After a few miles they stopped at a ghost town called Fairbanks.  Nobody was there and it was just a bunch of old buildings that nobody could walk in.  Nothing could be seen through the windows either.

They drove up a desert road in search of a ghost town called Contention.  Again, the path was blocked off by a locked gate.  DRATS!!

They finally made it home just in time to feed me.

February 9th, 2021

Today, I was not invited for a drive to the top of Montezuma's Pass in the Huachuca Mountains.  It took about 45 minutes to drive to the base and another 20 minutes to drive the 8 miles of switch back roads to the top.  The last several miles to the top was a 1 lane gravel road with huge side drop offs.  Even saw a Mule Deer (or funny looking dog with a white butt).

At the top was a parking lot with fantastic views.  They even saw the border wall and how it cut across the landscape.

I was not happy with mommy today.  She did not get home to feed me on time.  My stomach was growling when she finally fed me!!

February 10th, 2021

I was able to get more sleep today while THEY left me alone.  They went to Tombstone!!  They were gone most of the day.  This is the place of TV movies,  the OK Corral, Boothill Cemetery, live gun fights in the street and stage coach rides.

They did return home in time to feed me!!  Thank goodness!!

February 14th, 2021

HAPPY VALENTINE my peeps!!

After breakfast, they packed up the house and bounced me all the way to Rodeo, NM.  Dad was driving is some 40 MPH winds.  After 3 hours we stopped at Rusty's RV Park.  We will spend 4 days here at $ 32 per day.  They assigned us a very nice spot!!!  Each desert landscaped designed lot is 200 feet long and at least 75 to 100 feet wide.  There is no OTA TV stations here and the WiFi is very, very poor at 700 Kb.

February 15th, 2021

After listening to 45 MPH wind all night long and watching the temperature drop to 19 degrees, I was tired this morning.  So I didn't even argue when they left me alone so I could finally sleep!!  They went off to the Coronado National Forest and specifically the Chiricahua Mountains.

I should have gone with them!  As they traveled the mountains they saw deer, lots of birds including woodpeckers, Havalina, Hawks, roadrunner, rabbit, chipmunk, wild turkeys but no fish.  Sigh!!

February 17th, 2021

Today I was abandoned after breakfast while THEY went Jeeping up into the mountains.  They went to a ghost town called Paradise.  It was on a very rough forest road.  I'm glad they didn't get stuck.

Paradise is a small town with people still living there.  There is an old cemetery with many old family lots.

February 18th, 2021

Today we moved again. This time to Deming, New Mexico.  We stopped at a large gravel parking lot with RV pedestals called Little Vineyard RV Resort.  It has 50 cable channels and really good Wi-Fi. We paid $27 per day after discounts for 1 week.  Each site is approx 75 X 30.  We also got 12 gals of propane at $2.61 per gal.

February 22, 2021

After three days of being bothered, petted without permission, sleep deprived, my favorite spot taken, harassed, vexed, molested and disturbed I finally got some peace.  Mom and dad left me alone and went North to go visit Silver City.

After an hour of driving they arrived at Silver City.  Because the governor said so, most everything was closed.  But they did go walking along the Big Ditch park.

There was this log cabin for everybody to visit, too!
They also drove all the streets in the historical district.  Of course, everything was closed.  They got lost and drove near the Western New Mexico College of Nursing.  Not much going on!  The drive there and back was pretty, in a desert landscape "a whole lot of nothin", way.

Luckily, they got home in time to feed me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

February 25th, 2020

Late in the morning they packed up Lily2 and moved me 120 miles to El Paso.  It was a good ride until the heavy traffic of El Paso.  During the construction zones, these idiots would speed to get in front of dad and then slam on the brakes.  Thinking he can "stop on a dime!"  Lily 2 cannot stop on a quarter!!!  Finally dad pulled us into the Mission RV Park.  It was an OK over-nighter park at $38.  The lady that checked us in lacked customer service, but the Wi-Fi was great.  The cable didn't work at all, but we watched 17 OTA channels.  They did some shopping but finally got home to feed me.

February 26th, 2021

Today was a long travel day.  I'm still recovering from all the idiots on the road from yesterday.  I was not ready for a 5 hour day (adding for the time change), 225 mile day.  But nobody asked me!!  However, here we are.  We arrived in Fort Stockton Texas

at the Hilltop RV Park before supper time. I heard we are here for 3 days.  Yeah!

March 1st, 2021

Today was another bad day!  Dad (and his store bought drivers license) bounced us 4 1/2 hours or 200 miles East on I-10.  We had 15 to 20 MPH winds from the North most of the day.  Mom made dad stopped at the Sutton County Park (it has a huge parking lot) for lunch.  After awhile I came out of hiding to ask if "are we there yet".  Mommy said NO and put me back into my hiding spot.  We finally stopped at the 10/83 RV Park in Junction, Texas.

So far this place might be a great spot for 4 days.  It has trees (for the birds), grass (for the squirrels) and the North Llano River (for all the fish)!!!  The great Wi-Fi and fuzzy 40+ cable channels should make them happy.  I'm going hunting and/or fishing tonight.

March 3rd, 2021

I was able to take a short nap this morning while they went shopping in Junction, Texas.  It turns out, Junction Texas is a very small but cute town.  Because the Llano River runs through town, both the county and town built parks near the river.  They came home without any fish.  I'm so disappointed in them!!!

  1. Hi fellow travelers! Your projected route looks like ours, at least the Eastward bound portion. We'll leave Prescott May 1 in the Corona Van, via I10 to and through Texas to the Gulf Coast, around through New Orleans to Atlantic and up to Maine. If at some point over the summer, Europe opens, we'll park and fly from an east coast Airport. Happy travels and stay safe. We also just got our first round of the vaccine.
